Install before you leave
At home, on wifi, the evening before you go. The eSIM only starts when you arrive.
In Scotland (Edinburgh), at the end of June; in most of England, in the last week of July (from Thursday, 22 July 2027 in Birmingham). Return dates differ by council: they are all in the table above.
Which summer destinations are best for young children?
Short flights and no or little time difference: Portugal and the Canaries (UK time), the Balearics and mainland Spain (1 hour ahead). Greece and Turkey are 2 hours ahead, with very warm seas. In July and August, the Red Sea and Marrakech can be too hot for small children.
Will my phone work in Spain, Greece or Portugal this summer?
It depends on your network. Since Brexit, free EU roaming is no longer guaranteed, and some UK networks charge a daily fee in Europe. Turkey is outside the EU and often expensive. Check your plan before you go.
How much data do we need for two weeks in Spain?
For normal use (maps, messages, social media), allow 7.5 to 11GB per person over 14 days. We suggest 20GB valid for 30 days: for four eSIMs, that comes to €53.28 in total, group discount included.
Can we install the eSIM before we leave?
Yes, and we recommend it: install it at home on wifi the day before you fly. It only starts when you land and your phone picks up a local network.
