Does your phone accept eSIMs?
Sirocco doesn't keep a list of models. This test takes 30 seconds, on each phone in the group.
The 30-second test
- On the phone, dial *#06# · Just like making a call: the information appears straight away.
- If an EID number appears, the phone accepts eSIMs · No EID: the phone doesn't accept eSIMs.
- It must not be locked to a network · A phone bought with a contract may be locked to that network: ask them to unlock it before you leave.
Do it on every phone in the group before paying: when ordering, you confirm each phone.
On iPhone
- Open Settings › Mobile Data: the “Add eSIM” option should appear.
- Open Settings › General › About: “Network Provider Lock” should say “No SIM restrictions”.
Some iPhones sold in mainland China do not accept eSIMs. The *#06# test remains the reference.
On Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings › Connections › SIM manager: the “Add eSIM” option should appear.
- Dial *#06#: the EID line should appear.
On Google Pixel
- Open Settings › Network & internet › SIMs: an option to add an eSIM should appear.
- Open Settings › About phone: the EID line should appear.
Menu names may vary slightly depending on the system version and the phone's language.
Phone bought with a contract: unlocking
A phone sold with a contract may be locked to that network. Ask your provider to unlock it before you leave, well ahead of the day: the Sirocco eSIM cannot be installed on a locked phone.
Children's phones
Same test, on their phone. An older phone does not always accept eSIMs. An eSIM that is not yet installed can be reassigned to another traveller from the trip dashboard.
Then tick “I confirm that this phone accepts eSIMs and is not locked to a network” for each traveller in your order. Sirocco doesn't check the model: this choice remains your responsibility.
Frequently asked questions
An EID appears, but installation fails: why?
The phone may be locked to a network. Check the lock, or ask your provider. Do not delete anything and write to us: we will take it from there.
My phone was bought outside Europe: is it compatible?
Often, but not always: some models are sold without eSIM in certain countries. Do the *#06# test: no EID, no eSIM.
Can I install an eSIM on a tablet?
Only if it accepts eSIMs with mobile data. Without a dial pad, look for “EID” in the settings (About). If in doubt, write to us before buying.
Does Sirocco check my model?
No. You confirm each phone yourself when ordering; this guide helps you do it in 30 seconds.
