Installation guide
Install an eSIM on iPhone
Over Wi-Fi, before you leave, about 3 minutes. It all starts from the personal link each traveller receives.
Menu names may vary slightly depending on the system version and the phone's language.
Before you start
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Check that the phone accepts eSIMs and is not locked to a network. Is my phone compatible?
- Keep your personal Sirocco link to hand (text message, email or message).
- Allow about 3 minutes.
With the Sirocco link (the easiest way)
- Open your personal link on the iPhone that is travelling.
- Tap “Install on this device”: the iPhone opens its own installation screen.
- Follow the iPhone's screens and tap “Continue” to add the line.
- Name the line “Sirocco”. Keep your usual line as the default for calls, texts, iMessage and FaceTime.
- In your Sirocco guide, tap “I've finished installing”: the organiser sees that your eSIM is ready.
One-tap installation needs a recent version of iOS. Otherwise, use the QR code or manual entry below.
With the QR code (backup)
- Open your link on another screen (computer, another phone) and tap “Show QR code”.
- On the iPhone, open Settings › Mobile Data › Add eSIM, then “Use QR Code”, and scan it.
If scanning fails, choose “Enter Details Manually” and copy the SM-DP+ address and the activation code shown in your guide, using the “Copy” buttons.
On arrival: turn on data
- Open Settings › Mobile Data › Mobile Data and choose the Sirocco line.
- Tap the Sirocco line in Settings › Mobile Data, then turn on “Data Roaming”.
- Nothing after 2 minutes? Restart the iPhone.
Keeping your usual line
Your usual line stays active for calls and texts, if your plan allows it. Leave its data roaming off: your data goes through the Sirocco line.
Not working?
Restart the phone. Still nothing? The guided check solves most cases in two minutes; otherwise the team takes over.
Never delete the eSIM after installation, not even to “try again”: it cannot always be reinstalled.
Frequently asked questions
Will I keep my number on iPhone?
Yes. The Sirocco eSIM is added to your usual line, which remains the one for calls, texts, iMessage and FaceTime.
My iPhone already has an eSIM: can I add another?
Yes, a recent iPhone can hold several eSIMs. Two lines can be active at the same time: yours for calls, Sirocco for data.
Should I delete the eSIM after the trip?
There is no rush. You can turn off the Sirocco line when you get back. During the trip, never delete it: it cannot always be reinstalled.
