Do I need data roaming with an eSIM?

In short

Yes, on the Sirocco line only. Your usual line can keep data roaming off: your data goes through Sirocco.

Why data roaming?

Abroad, the Sirocco line connects to a local partner network. For the phone, that is roaming: without it, it refuses to connect. The data used comes from your Sirocco plan.

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings › Mobile Data › Mobile Data and choose the Sirocco line.
  2. Tap the Sirocco line, then turn on “Data Roaming”.

Then restart the phone: most networks connect after this restart.

On Samsung and Android

  1. Open Settings › Connections › SIM manager › Mobile data and choose the Sirocco line for mobile data.
  2. Open Settings › Connections › Mobile networks, then turn on “Data roaming” for the Sirocco line.

Then restart the phone: most networks connect after this restart.

Menu names may vary slightly depending on the system version and the phone's language.

Frequently asked questions

Will my usual provider charge me?

Not for data, if the Sirocco line is chosen for mobile data and your usual line's data roaming stays off. Calls and texts on your usual line follow your provider's terms.

Data roaming is on but nothing connects?

Restart the phone. Still nothing? Follow the “I have no internet” check; the team takes over if needed.
