This page compares five travel eSIM providers for a family of four spending a week in Egypt: Sirocco, Airalo, Saily, Yesim and Holafly. It is written mainly for families travelling from the UK, whether you are booked on the Red Sea, a Nile cruise or a trip to the pyramids. All prices and features were read on each provider's official website on 4 October 2026, from France, so prices are shown in euros. If you browse from the UK, a site may show pounds or a different amount.
This page is published by Sirocco, one of the providers compared. Our own plans are on the Egypt eSIM page. We have kept to facts each provider publishes and we say plainly where others are stronger. We have not carried out any field test in Egypt.
How we compared Egypt eSIMs
Sources. Only the official websites and help pages of each provider, consulted on 4 October 2026. All of them are listed in the sources of this page.
The same scenario for every provider. A family of four, seven days in Egypt, 5 GB per person. That fits everyday use (messages, maps, social media and holiday photos) at around 0.7 GB a day. For each provider we chose the plan closest to that scenario and name it: volume, validity, displayed unit price and a total worked out as four times that unit price.
Criteria. Price for four people; whether each person can have a different plan within one order; hotspot; how each traveller receives and installs their eSIM; support channels and hours; child mode or control over purchases; when validity starts; and which networks are shown.
What we did not measure. Real speeds, coverage and network quality. Without on-the-ground testing, this page cannot tell you which eSIM works better in Hurghada, Luxor or the desert.
"Not recorded" means the information was not found on the official site that day, not that the feature is missing.

A plan for each person
Sirocco lets you give each traveller their own eSIM and their own plan in one order: a bigger plan for a teenager who streams, a small one for a younger child. From three eSIMs, 10% comes off the total, shown before you pay. There is no shared pot, so one person running out never eats into anyone else's data; their connection simply stops, nothing extra is charged, and the organiser can top up that single eSIM. Yesim announces 10% off from two eSIMs and keeps up to ten eSIMs in one account with MultiSIM. Saily's Family Plan takes the opposite approach, one plan shared by up to five people, which can suit families happy to draw from a single allowance (unlimited plans cannot be shared).
Sharing a connection
Saily stands out here, presenting hotspot as unlimited on its pages. Airalo allows it where the phone and network support it, Yesim says it depends on the operator, and Holafly allows 1 GB a day on these plans, with more available through its paid subscription. At Sirocco, hotspot depends on the offer and the country, and the offer page says so before payment. In every case, shared data is taken from the plan of the person sharing, and that phone's battery runs down faster.
Getting help
Airalo, Saily, Yesim and Holafly all provide 24/7 chat; Yesim quotes an average response time of about five minutes, and Holafly also answers on WhatsApp. Sirocco's support works on weekdays, 9am to 6pm Paris time, by form and email, usually within two working hours, in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese. If round-the-clock help matters to you, the others offer it and Sirocco does not.
Installing for the whole family
With Sirocco, the organiser enters each traveller's number and sends a personal installation link by text message when ready. Text messages can be sent to UK, EU, Swiss, French and Moroccan numbers; for other numbers, the link goes by email or you share it yourself. The organiser sees whether each eSIM has been installed and connected, but never another adult's installation codes or detailed usage.
Which eSIM suits your family?
Young children without a phone. A small child may not need an eSIM if a parent's hotspot is allowed on the plan you pick. Remember that this uses the parent's data and battery.
Children with their own phone. Check eSIM support first: dial *#06# and look for an EID number. A phone bought on contract may be locked to its network, so get it unlocked before you go. In the Sirocco app, child mode shows a child their remaining data and end date, and lets them ask for more data without any price on screen; the parent accepts, picks another amount or declines, and the request expires after 24 hours. It is not parental control: no filtering, no view of what the child looks at, no location.
Teenagers. Video and video calls use about 1.5 GB a day, well beyond 5 GB in a week. At Sirocco, a plan of at least 10 GB costs €17.20, or see the unlimited table.
Two weeks or more. Saily plans from 3 GB and all Yesim plans run for 30 days. At Sirocco, 5 GB for 15 days is €13.90 and 10 GB for 30 days is €18.90; unused data becomes credit for your next trip.
Egypt combined with another country. Check that a single plan covers every country you will visit, or plan an eSIM for each.
Egypt practicalities: networks, timing and Wi-Fi
Egypt's regulator NTRA reports on four mobile operators: Vodafone, Orange, e& (Etisalat) and WE. All four have been granted 5G licences, and eSIM has been launched in the country. We have not measured coverage, which can differ between resorts, cities and remote areas.
Egypt's official tourism site describes winter as November to January, with the strongest heat from June to August, especially in the desert and the south. If you spend the hottest hours indoors, hotel Wi-Fi is a good way to download films and offline maps instead of using your plan.
Your UK plan only covers Egypt if your operator includes it: the EU's "roam like at home" rules do not cover Egypt and no longer apply to the UK.
Install each eSIM at home on Wi-Fi a few days before departure and leave the travel line switched off. At Sirocco, validity starts on first connection in Egypt; the table above shows how it works at the other providers. On landing, switch the eSIM on, choose it for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line only. Do not delete an installed eSIM, as it cannot always be reinstalled.
All eSIMs compared here are data only. Keep your usual line for calls, texts and emergencies: the UK government lists ambulance 123, fire 180, police 122 and tourist police 126.
To estimate each person's needs, use the data calculator; our family eSIM page and kids eSIM page explain ordering for several travellers.
