This page compares five travel eSIM providers for a family of four taking a one-week vacation in Europe: Sirocco, Airalo, Saily, Yesim and Holafly. It is written for American families. All prices and features were read on each provider's official website on 4 October 2026, from France, so prices are shown in euros. If you browse from the US, a site may show dollars or a different amount. Sirocco charges in euros; its site may show an approximate dollar amount for information.
This page is published by Sirocco, one of the providers compared. Our own plans are on the Europe eSIM page. We have stuck to what each provider publishes and we point out where others do better. We have not run any field test in Europe.
How we compared Europe eSIMs
Sources. Only the official websites and help pages of each provider, consulted on 4 October 2026. Every page used is listed in the sources of this guide.
One scenario for everyone. A family of four, seven days in Europe, 5 GB per person. That fits everyday use (messaging, maps, social media and photos) at around 0.7 GB a day. For each provider we picked the plan closest to that scenario and state exactly which one: data amount, validity, displayed unit price and a total calculated as four times that price.
Criteria. Price for four; countries covered; whether each person can have a different plan within one order; hotspot; how each traveler gets and installs their eSIM; support channels and hours; kids mode or control over purchases; when validity starts; and networks shown.
What we did not measure. Real speeds, coverage and network quality. With no on-the-ground testing, this page cannot tell you which eSIM connects better in Rome, the Alps or a Greek island.
"Not recorded" means we did not find the information on the official site that day. It does not mean the feature does not exist.

Countries covered
This is the first thing to check on a multi-country trip. Sirocco's Europe offer lists 45 countries, including the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and several Balkan countries; Turkey is not on it. Airalo lists 41, Saily 35, Holafly 33, and Yesim 33 under "Europe & UK". A bigger number does not guarantee your route is covered, so check every country you will visit, including a day trip across a border.
A plan for each person
At Sirocco, each traveler has their own eSIM and their own plan in one order, so a teenager can get more data and a younger child less. From three eSIMs, 10% comes off the total before payment. There is no shared pool: if one person runs out, only their connection stops, nothing extra is charged, and the organizer can top up that one eSIM. Yesim advertises 10% off from two eSIMs and keeps up to ten eSIMs in one account. Saily's Family Plan shares a single plan among up to five people, a good fit if your family prefers one allowance (unlimited plans cannot be shared).
Hotspot
Saily is strong here, presenting hotspot as unlimited. Airalo allows it where the phone and network support it, Yesim says it depends on the operator, and Holafly allows 1 GB a day, with more through its paid subscription. At Sirocco, hotspot depends on the offer and the country, as shown on the offer page before you pay. Shared data always comes out of the sharing person's plan and drains that phone's battery.
Support and time zones
Airalo, Saily, Yesim and Holafly all offer 24/7 chat; Yesim states an average response time of about five minutes, and Holafly adds WhatsApp. Sirocco's support runs on weekdays, 9am to 6pm Paris time, by form and email, usually within two business hours. Those hours fall between night and midday in the US, depending on your time zone, so if you want help from home at any hour, the others are more convenient. Once you are in Europe, Sirocco's hours line up with your day.
Setting up phones from the US
Sirocco can text install links only to numbers in France, the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Morocco. For US numbers, each traveler's personal link goes by email, or the organizer shares it. The organizer can see whether each eSIM is installed and connected, but never another adult's install codes or detailed usage. Saily also offers a paid US (+1) phone number option; the other plans compared here are data only.
Which eSIM fits your family?
Young kids without a phone. A parent's hotspot may be enough if the plan allows it; it uses that parent's data and battery.
Kids with their own phone. Dial *#06#: if an EID number appears, the phone accepts eSIMs. A phone bought through a carrier may be locked, so ask your carrier to unlock it before you leave. Sirocco's kids mode lets a child see remaining data and the end date in the app and ask for more data without seeing any price; the parent approves, changes the amount or declines, and the request expires after 24 hours. It is not parental control: it does not filter sites, show browsing or locate the child.
Teenagers. Video and video calls use about 1.5 GB a day. At Sirocco, 10 GB for seven days is €14.90. If your teen wants unlimited data, Sirocco has none for Europe; see the second table for providers that do.
Two weeks or longer. Saily plans from 3 GB and all Yesim plans run for 30 days. At Sirocco, 10 GB for 15 days is €15.50, and unused data becomes credit for your next trip.
Several countries. Compare country lists first, then price.
Europe practicalities for US travelers
A 2012 FCC tip sheet, older but still useful, notes that for most US customers the plan covering domestic use does not cover use abroad, and that even with unlimited minutes, texts or data at home, you may be charged per minute, per text or per megabyte abroad. Its advice still holds: turn off automatic downloads and use free Wi-Fi when you can.
Install every eSIM at home on Wi-Fi a few days before the flight and keep the travel line off until you land. At Sirocco, validity starts on first connection at destination; the table shows how the others work. On arrival, switch the eSIM on, select it for cellular data and turn on data roaming for that line only. Do not delete an installed eSIM: it cannot always be reinstalled. Hotel Wi-Fi is handy for downloading offline maps and movies.
The eSIMs here are data only, so keep your usual line for calls. In an emergency, 112 is free everywhere in the EU.
To size each person's plan, try the data calculator, and see our family eSIM page and kids eSIM page for ordering for several travelers.
