Does their phone accept an eSIM? The 30-second test

Do the test with them, before you sell. Sirocco keeps no list of models: the test takes 30 seconds and works for every phone.

The test

1. Have them dial *#06#

As if making a call: the information appears straight away.

2. Look at the EID line

An EID number appears: the phone accepts eSIMs. No EID: it does not accept them.

3. Check that it is not locked to an operator

A phone bought with a plan may be reserved for that operator. Your customer asks for it to be unlocked before leaving: the eSIM will not install on a locked phone.

Brand by brand

iPhone

Settings › Mobile Data: "Add eSIM" should appear. Settings › General › About: "Carrier Lock" should say "No SIM restrictions". Some iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macao do not accept eSIMs.

Samsung

Settings › Connections › SIM manager: "Add eSIM" should appear.

Google Pixel

Settings › Network & internet › SIMs: the option to add an eSIM should appear.

Other Android phones

Search for "SIM" in the settings: the path varies by brand. The phone must be up to date.

The line to say

"Let's check right now whether your phone accepts the eSIM. Dial *#06# as if making a call."

Sirocco does not check the model when the order is placed: the test is done with your customer, before you sell.
